Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. but if you let it go, reckless in your love, you’ll have it forever, real and eternal.
John 12:25 KJV
Good Morning Beautiful,
Today’s scripture speaks on a man’s heart by highlighting our ungodly nature of desiring the things of this flesh. It’s easy to say ” Lord, here I am” or ” Lord I will serve you,” but what does that actually look like? Do we trust God with everything we have, or do we try to hold on to what we can? When we choose to follow God, we can not keep our own insurance policy by thinking that I have something else to turn to if things go bad. That is not trusting, nor is that putting your faith into Christ. As the scripture says, ” He who loves his life shall lose it” (John 12:25) refers to the fact that when we don’t fully trust in Christ, and we choose this world, we will lose our lives to it. God reassures us that life may be lost here on this earth, but when choosing to put Christ first above ourselves and the things of this world, we will have eternity with Him.
It’s hard to think of ourselves as selfish or worse that we aren’t putting God first. The one thing that God is telling us all this morning is that He wants to open His arms to us. He is waiting for us to acknowledge the sin that is in our lives and let it go!
The good news today is that God calls us to walk a self-less life. He knows the struggles that we will face, but He has promised to walk with us every step of the way. Let’s give God thanks for today and praise His name, for He has allowed us to see another day! Be filled with joy this morning, knowing that we serve a God who will never leave us nor forsake us (Deut. 31:6). He is with you today and will walk with you step by step, but you must first open your heart to Him.
