Stand Your Ground: Don’t let Satan Gain A Foothold

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.

Ephesians 4:26-27

Good Morning Beautiful,

This morning I tell you to FIGHT! Fight until there is nothing left. Don’t let up for a second because I can assure you that Satan is waiting and looking for a way to steal, kill, and destroy (see John 10:10). You don’t want Satan to have a foothold because that means he has taken some of your ground, and we all know that every inch holds importance for victory in a battle. The enemy’s way of gaining a foothold is when we battle with unresolved issues. Issues such as:

  1. anger
  2. unforgiveness
  3. rejection
  4. jealousy
  5. envy, and
  6. negative thinking

Are any of these issues relatable to you this morning?

These issues of the heart are not something that we should take lightly. Satan makes it, so we feel that we must be or think of these things. In reality, when we harbor these issues in our hearts, we are causing our fall. Don’t be fooled because these issues can be damaging in the long run.

How to stand your ground

God calls us to Guard our hearts-not just sometimes but all of the time, “Keep thy heart with all diligence;

For out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23). God teaches us the necessities to win in the battle of spiritual warfare by urging us to wear the Full Armor of God!

God tells us to wear (Ephesians 6: 14-18):

  1. Breastplate of righteousness
  2. Helmet of salvation
  3. Belt of truth
  4. shoes of the Gospel
  5. shield of faith
  6. Sword of the Spirit

Why? Because these are the things used to keep us safe while in battle. Only God knows how to fight the enemy, but if we are left unguarded, then we are given the enemy more ground than we should.

God doesn’t want us to be defeated or to feel defeated. We can’t live in fear or intimidation by the devil. The God that we serve is far mightier than the enemy. So, when God says to guard your heart, you defend it by covering yourself with God’s full armor.

This life that we live in is never going to be without hardship. There will be valleys to walk through and mountains to climb, but I encourage you to keep your focus on God.

Reflect

  1. we all struggle with different issues in this life (i.e., anger, unforgiveness, hurt, etc.) What has been one of your main struggles?
  2. Whatever issue you chose in question 1, Let that be your focus for the rest of the week as you go into prayer asking God to remove and uncover those issues in your life.

Submit your prayer request to us. We want to pray for you!
