Expect The Unexpected

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:9

Good Morning Beautiful,

This morning, I want you to take 5 mins of complete silence and read today’s scripture slowly “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Is. 55:9). Without overthinking, what is the first thing that comes to your mind when reading this verse.

A few of my interpretations are: (1) God’s ways are better than my ways, (2) There are things that God knows that I will never know, and (3) Only God knows how situations will turn out for me.

Whatever thoughts came up for you, I am we can all agree that, in some way, God is telling us that His ways will always be higher and more profound than ours could ever be.

Right, when we think we know what God is up to, He changes things on us, and it seems He is taking us in circles. God’s way of taking us from point A to point B differs from what we may think. We are in the era of google maps, where we can revive step-by-step and audio directions for getting to and from our destination. God, however, will have you driving down streets that don’t even seem remotely correct.

While amid unfamiliarity, it can seem frustrating to the point where you want to give up and quit. We often want to give up because the way that God takes us is entirely out of our comfort zone. Along the course that God is bringing us, He tends to hit areas in our lives where we have built many walls. The parts of our lives that we felt were untouchable. If anyone has ever had a real encounter with God, then you know that no area is unreachable. God wants to go there because He knows that to send you where He needs you, you must tear those walls down and be broken of the things that can hinder you.

If we knew everything God had planned, I don’t believe that any of us would ever go forward, especially if there is the possibility of encountering heartbreak and pain. Hence, God leaves some details out when he calls us to come forward.

God doesn’t break us to harm us, but He knows that to walk the path in Christ, we can not move forward, holding on to baggage unsuitable for the journey. Know that there will be discomfort. Mainly because those “walls” or “barriers” are what we call our safety net; it is the place we tend to run back to when things get hard. The enemy has a sneaky way of making us feel that the place we have tried so hard to get out of is the place we should run back to when things get hard going God’s way.

Many of you may have been seeking God for certain things to happen in your life, whether related to employment, marriage, family, friends, or community. It may seem that nothing is happening, or it appears that you are off course but know that God works in the unexpected.

Today, expect the unexpected to happen in your life. Don’t give up on what you have been praying for because God is on your side. He has not forgotten about you, but He is taking you on a journey in which His purpose for your life will be fulfilled.
