But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33 KJV
Good Morning Beautiful,
Our choices are a matter of life and death. Before you freak out, we have to understand that this is a gradual process, and I am not speaking on physical life or death issues but the things that happen in the spiritual realm. Being a Christian and choosing to follow Christ will always prioritize the Kingdom of God first. No matter how difficult it may be, when you are unsure which route to take, ask yourself, “Will this please God?” For confirmation of your decisions, always follow the course that will bring you peace, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).
At times we will see that our paths will intertwine with others, and making choices may seem a little more challenging when you are affected by peer pressure and social ordinances. However, we are all given our path, and therefore, we have to make choices that will depict the way we choose to follow. The Bible speaks on the two directions of life: Wide and broadened and the straight and narrow; One leads down the path of destruction where the other leads to eternal life (see Matthew 7: 13,14).
Either course will be challenging because each path requires sacrifice. No one said that choosing God would be easy, but it will be worth it in the end. We are all faced with decisions to make, and yes, it can be hard to choose God, especially when there seems to be an easier way to go. You are not alone when it comes to choosing what you feel will benefit you the most.
In my life, I chose to make the hard decision of being single until God sent me someone. It was hard being on social media and watching the ones around you being in relationships and getting married. There were moments when I wanted to rush the process because I felt it needed to be my time. However, I was faced with making the hard decision to let go of someone knowing that this person was not for me. I had to understand that when God says no, it is a no. Now I could have tried to force the relationship, but that would not have yielded me the results I wanted.
Sometimes in the wait, you have to remind yourself why you choose the route you are taking. At times, I would tell myself, “I have prayed too long and hard to get involve in something that is not for me!“ No matter how ugly it got or how disappointed I was, I had to remember that I didn’t want to be in another meaningless relationship. I wanted to wait for the person that would allow me to have a purposeful marriage. I wanted to wait on God!
Your choices and the things you choose to prioritize will reflect your actions and walk here on this earth. So our decisions are essential because it dictates how we choose to live. At times when it seems unsure as to which way we should go, the Word of God says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). You will never go wrong when you choose God!
God has assured us in His word that when we follow His commandments, we will partake in the things that are pleasing to Him, “And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it” (2 John 1: 6). You are not alone and whatever decisions you are faced with today don’t forget to seek God first. Let God order your steps and trust in the process knowing that God will not lead you astray!
Reflect
- What decisions are occupying your mind today?
- Consider the fact that both choices will be hard but choose your hard this morning.
- Will your decision prioritize the kingdom of God?
